with Tobyn Tribbeck
july 31 - august 8, 2010
This unique Zen retreat is an opportunity to relax and gently explore meditation as well as being introduced to a number of traditional Zen art forms. Tucked away in the foothills of the Italian Appenines, this is the perfect location for a peaceful break from the busyness of everyday life. It is ideal for the exploration of stillness and relaxation and is not dependent on fitness, gender, religion or experience.
The retreat will be led by Tobyn Tribbeck Sensei who has been studying Sattipathana (Mindfulness), Tibetan Buddhism and Soto Zen for over 20 years. He runs ‘Zendo’ in rural Dorset, England offering regular classes and retreats throughout the year. This retreat will enable you to experience Zen practice in an informal and relaxed environment. There will also be experienced guest teachers from ‘Zendo’ offering classes in Calligraphy, Sword work, Ki-Aikido, gentle martial arts and Zen cooking.
Zen is the study and application of mindfulness in everyday activities. Through classical art forms, exercise and meditation we can learn to be still and gently rest in the present moment. This allows us to be clear, well and happy.
There will be plenty of opportunities for you to do as you wish, whether that be lounging in a hammock, swimming in the waterfall, exploring the wonders of the stunning Monte Falterona National park which surrounds the house, having a massage or wandering into the nearby village.
